Wisdom Tooth Removal

This collaborative approach allows you to receive specialized surgical care from an experienced provider while maintaining a seamless experience and continuity throughout your treatment.

What Are Wisdom Teeth?

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the final set of permanent teeth to develop, typically between the ages of 17 and 25. While some patients have no issues, wisdom teeth often become impacted or crowded, which can lead to:
- Pain or discomfort
- Infection
- Damage to surrounding teeth
- Delayed orthodontic treatment
- Future oral health complications
If wisdom teeth may impact your orthodontic treatment or overall oral health, we may recommend evaluation and removal.

Wisdom Tooth Removal for Orthodontic Patients
Wisdom teeth can sometimes interfere with orthodontic treatment or long-term results. That’s why Tomblyn Family Orthodontics works closely with Capital Oral Surgery to coordinate care when surgical treatment is needed.
Your care typically includes:
- Evaluation of wisdom teeth during orthodontic treatment
- Referral to Dr. Lew for consultation
- Coordinated treatment planning
- Ongoing communication between providers
This collaborative approach helps ensure the best possible outcome for your smile.
What to Expect Before Surgery
During your consultation with Dr. Lew, he will:
- Review your imaging and oral health
- Discuss anesthesia options
- Explain the procedure
- Provide pre- and post-operative instructions
- Answer your questions
Wisdom tooth removal is typically performed as an outpatient procedure, allowing you to return home the same day.
Recovery After Wisdom Tooth Removal
